Our sense of sight investigation!

Year 1 discussed the sense of sight today and how important it is. We had lot’s of fun experimenting with blindfolds to see how difficult simple things would be without our sense of sight. The children were very sensible and could explain why they felt their sense of sight was so important. Here are some photos of our activity.

Lima’s Red Hot Chilli Pepper!

Children have been reading Lima’s Red Hot Chilli Pepper, where fireworks flew out of her mouth as she found the chilli too spicy. Her family tried to help cool her mouth down by giving her different foods and in the end she found that milk was the only thing that was going to help her.

During our Literacy lesson, children enjoyed trying different foods such as samosas, spaghetti, coconut, jelly and ice cream and then writing about them.

I wonder what our next book will be?

Welcome to Year One!

Hello!

Year one have had an amazing first day! They have all settled in beautifully and have been busy learning already. Have a look through the pictures below to see the wonderful chalk drawings of their bodies; the children loved creating these.

Just a few things to note. The reading records and diaries will be sent home on Friday alongside their red homework books. You will notice there are key words and phonic sounds in the diaries for your children to learn. We will be teaching these in class but please practise at home with your children too.

A letter went out today regarding PE. Our PE days are Wednesday and Thursday so on these days can your children come into school in their PE kits which they will stay in all day.

We will update you with any further events or notices. Please do not hesitate to ask us any questions in the meantime.

Thank you
