Fantastic Mr Fox

Year Two have started their new topic of ‘In the Garden’ and have been reading ‘Fantastic Mr Fox’. The children created their own models of what they thought the fox family home may look like and then wrote a description of their setting. Their writing was very descriptive and imaginative. Well done, Year Two!

Superhero comics

This week in Year 2 we have been using our computing skills to turn our very own superhero stories into comic strips! Using the Comic Life programme we posed for our own action shots, wrote captions and added speech bubbles and onomatopoeia words to our comics. Great job Year 2!

Feeling Fruity…

On Thursday Year 2 started our morning by sampling some different fruits from around the world. Some we had tried before at home and some we hadn’t even heard of! We described the fruits using adjectives like ‘sweet’, ‘tangy’ and ‘sour’. In maths we created tally charts and pictographs to show which fruits our class liked the best. Here we are enjoying our fruit tasting experience:

Baking Biscuit Bear

Today we had great fun baking Biscuit Bear.  The children carefully followed the recipe and then  took it in turns to stir the mixture. After the biscuits were baked, the children decorated them. The best bit was tasting them!

Year 1 have been communicating with Queen Elizabeth II this week!  She sent them a video to tell them that her jewels had been stolen.  We wrote a list of questions to help her guards find the criminal and they managed to track down clues that led them to the notorious thief, Emily Bandit! We wrote and recorded news reports about the incident!

Visit by the Reverand Keeley

On Tuesday, shortly after the first chick hatched, Reverend Keeley from St Nicholas’ Church in Elm Park came to visit us and answer our many questions about what it means to be a Christian.

The children were very polite and waited their turn to ask some very sensible and greater depth questions!

We asked questions such as “Do you have to love God to be a Christian?” and “Why are there so many candles in a church?”

Reverend Keeley was so happy to see us all again as she had remembered our wonderful behaviour from the last time we went.

Well done Year 1!
