Year 1 have been busy experimenting and looking at which material would be the best to make a raincoat for our teddy! We have been learning about different materials and their properties and this week we learnt what a prediction and experiment is and then looked at the results. We tried three different materials (paper, fabric and plastic) and we found out that the best material was indeed plastic because it is waterproof.

Toy Party !
In Year 1 we were amazed find a toy box and lots of toys on the green tables outside the classrooms. What might the toys have got up to over the weekend? We decided the toys might have had a party! We then wrote some questions to find out what all the toys had been up to. Here are some of our questions.

Poppies
This week the whole school have been decorating their own poppies. Most of the time we paint the poppies red because it is the classic colour of poppies and on Flanders Field when they started to grow it looked like a flood of the blood from the soldiers who died in battle. This year we got to paint purple poppies because they are for all of the animals that were killed in the wars like dogs, horses and pigeons. We also got to use a variety of techniques of how to decorate it like using a cotton bud and paint or felt tips. This year is a very special year because it is 100 years since World War 1 ended.
