Wow! What a fantastic morning the children have had with a fabulous circus performance by Jebb from Blooming Circus followed by a fantastic circus workshop. The children were keen to try lots of circus acts including juggling, plate spinning and even tightrope walking. We are expecting some of them to be running away to the circus when they grow up because they were so brilliant!

A Walk in the Park…
Today year 2 headed out to Harrow Lodge Park to look for any signs or clues that Nessie had bene there. After a witness sighting was reported from Mrs Sale on Monday we have been keen to find out if the Loch Ness Monster was actually in the lake. There were a few signs that the monster could have been there but we did not see anything peculiar or strange that raised concern.
That was until we got back to school and looked through the photos… there appears to be a mysterious creature in the background- what do you think it is?
Science Week
The children had a whole day of Science Investigations yesterday for British Science Week 2017. They were all keen to find out about, explore and investigate things that change. The excitement and enthusiasm was thrilling and the investigations were mostly successful. They looked at how solids can change to liquids by heating, as well as colour changing, chemical reactions and gravity.
Here are some pictures from the day.

Tesco Trip
Yesterday Beech and Elder were lucky enough to go to Tesco Roneo Corner for a special store tour. They were shown around by a lady named Lesley, who set challenges for children to find fruits and vegetables that would show all of the colours in the rainbow. The children also began to read the labels to find out where the produce had came from. We met Mo at the fish counter who told the children all about where fish come from and different types of fish that they sell. Then we went to the bakery where we tasted bread and pancakes, Elder were lucky enough to see the bread being made!
We went into the freezer which was very cold, then into the warehouse for their delivery and finally into the security room where we were able to see ourselves on the cameras. A final taster of cheese and grapes ended our fabulous trip. The children were extremely well behaved and a Community Support Police Officer commented on the children’s exceptional manners.
Many thanks to our wonderful parent volunteers, we wouldn’t have been able to run this trip without you!
Could it be Robin Hood?
Today we found a strange letter left in beech class. The letter used some very tricky vocabulary including words like outlaw, honourable, intentions, emplore and exile. We worked out what it meant and found out that somebody by the name RW needed help to protect himself. He talked about wanting to help poor people and being perceived as dangerous and dishonest. After we read the letter we noticed a mysterious tent set up near the school pond. There were blankets, clothes and even a bow and arrow. There was also lots more evidence that tells us somebody has been sleeping on the school field.
NSPCC Number Day
We have had a fabulous day in year 2 with lots of fun maths activities. We started with fractions of numbers and finding equivalent fractions before a ‘Who Wants to be a Mathematician’ challenge, Beech vs Elder. The children worked hard to answer maths questions and some needed to phone a friend for help. Eventually it was a draw with both classes winning £230!
In the afternoon we did some problem solving…
Thank you for all contributions made!
The Mystery of the Missing Toys
On Monday year 2 found lots of toys captured and tied up around the school. They were shocked that someone had been so evil at EPPS. We investigated the crime scenes and came to the conclusion that the wicked Professor Spade was to blame. We have now rescued the toys and they have all been returned to their homes. The children have been looking out for Professor Spade but he hasn’t been spotted since.
