The children in year 2 have found out all about the job that Santa and his elves do when they met Santa at Winter Wonderland. The children were fabulous and Santa was very impressed with the letters that they wrote for him!
Florence Nightingale
Yesterday we had a very special visit from Florence Nightingale who was kind enough to tell us all about her life. We have been learning about the work that Florence did as part of our topic ‘Jobs People Do’. We looked at some of the things she had and we also got to pretend we were in the hospital, girls as nurses and boys as soldiers! It was a great experience!
Here are some photos from the visit…
Magic Potions
We had lot’s of fun in Maths yesterday after finding some rather unusual bottles in our classroom. We used things like Dragon’s Blood and Fish Slime to follow a recipe to create Invisibility and Fairy Dust Potions! The children had to measure out each amount carefully learning all about capacity as they did this. They also had to work collaboratively in teams and each child had an important role in their group!

Foggy Morning and Spaceship Landing
This morning was a strange one. As well as it being Halloween today the children came to school and noticed lots of fog around the playground. We know that the fog is bad and stops planes being able to fly safely so we had a game of catch the fog. Once we got it all we put it into the bin!
Then we heard a loud bang and noticed that something had landed on the roof. we went up to the balcony to investigate and found what looked like a broken spaceship. Some children thought the engine had stopped working while others believed the spaceship may have crashed into something because of the fog.
We were all quite certain that there must have been some aliens and we thought about where they might be now.
Biscuit Bear Story
Today we have been using explain everything to film the story of Biscuit Bear. We added the photos from the story and then recorded our voices telling the story!
Here is the film we made together…

Sandwich Making!
Yesterday in year 2 the children learnt all about how to make a healthy sandwich. They then made their own sandwiches trying to include the right amounts of carbohydrates, protein, fruits and vegetables and fats and oils. They did a fantastic job making their sandwiches and enjoyed eating them at home!
Year 2 celebrate our GOOD news
On Friday we held a surprise assembly for Miss Morris to celebrate that OFSTED have graded our school as GOOD.
Each class or year group made a short video which was shown during the special assembly. These videos have been posted on the individual year group blogs for the whole school community to enjoy.
